CASSIA BARK - EXPERIMENT

Synonyms:
Kalmi Dalcini, Dalchini

Biological source: It consist of dried stem bark of the plant “Cinnamomum cassia”
Family: Lauraceae

Morphological characters:
Size-    05 to 40 cm length
12 to 18 cm width
01 to 03 mm thickness
Fracture- Short, granular externally and slightly firrous internally.
Surface- Rough and grayish
Inner surface- Brown and finely striated

Chemical constituents:
1 to 2 % of volatile oil known as cassia oil.
Contains mucilage, starch, calcium oxalate and tannins.
Contains not less than 85% of cinnamic aldehyde and very small amount of eugenol.
Cassia oil also contains cinnamyl acetate.

Uses :
·         Carminatives
·         Stimulant
·         Flavouring and aromatic agent
Used in spice.
