INTRODUCTION
Educational
communication media is also known as Audio-Visual AV materials and teaching
learning process he cannot be expected to make intelligent or faithful use of
the techniques, which offers so much assistance in day today activities of
teachers.
DEFINITION OF AV-AIDS
According
to Burton
Audio
visual aids are those sensory objects or images which initiate or stimulate and
reinforce learning.
According
to Corter V.Good
Audio
visual aids are those aids which helps in completing the triangular process of
learning i.e., motivation, classification and stimulation.
According
to Edye Dale
Audio
visual aids are those device by the use of which communication of ideas between
person and groups in various teaching and training situation is helped, these
are also termed as multi sensory material.
According
to Kinder S. James
Audio
visual aids are anything by means of which learning process may be encouraged
or carried on through the sense of hearing or sensing of sight.

A)
Principals of Selection
1. They
should have specific educational value besides beings interesting and
motivation.
2. They
should be the true representations of the real things.
B)
Principal of Preparation
1. As
far as possibly locally available material should be used in the preparation of
an aid.
2. The
teacher should receive some training in the preparation of aids.
C)
Preparation of Physical Control
The
principle relates to the arrangement of keeping aids safely are also to
facilitate their learning to the teacher for use.
D)
Principal of Proper Presentation
1. The
teacher should carefully visualize the use of teaching aids.
2. Adequate
care should be taken to handle an aids in such a way as no damage is done to
it.
3. The
aids should be displayed properly.

Principal of Response
The
principle demands that the teacher guide the students to respond actively to
the audio-visual stimuli so that they drive the maximum benefit in learning.
F)
Principal of Evaluation
This
principle stimulates that there should be continuous evaluation of both the
audio visual material and accompanying techniques.
PURPOSE OF AV-AIDS
Purpose of AV-AIDS Visual are:
1. To
provide a basis for more effective perceptual and conceptual learning.
2. To
initiate and sustain, attention, concentration and personal involvement of the
student in learning.
3. To
provide concreteness, realism and life likness in the teaching learning
situation.
4. To
bring the remote events of either space or time in to the class.
5. To
increase the meaningfulness of abstract concept.
6. To
gain practical skill
7. To
introduce opportunity for situational or field type of learning or contrasted
with linear order verbal.
8. Save
time and energy.
