HIGH RISK PREGNANCY
INTRODUCTION
For most
women early regular prenatal care promote a healthy pregnancy and delivery
without complications. But some women’s are increased risk for complication
even after they get pregnancy for a variety of reason.
In a high
risk pregnancy the mother, feotus or neonate is at increased risk fro morbidity
or mortality before or after delivery. Infant mortality rate 44 in the 1000
lives, morbidity 213 in the 100000.
CONCLUSION
The
strengthening of midwifery skills, community participation and referral system
through that we can prevent the high risk pregnancies. If we desire to improve
the obstetric results it will help to reduce the mortality and morbidity rate.
MANAGEMENT
OF HIGH RISK CASES
- The nurse should educate the mother about the importance of routine and laboratory investigation done in early pregnancy.
- The nurse should advice the mother to do all the investigations to avoid the complications.
- The nurse should advice the mother to go for genetic counseling.
- The nurse should advice the mother about regular antenatal checkup.
- The nurse should take consent from the mother.
- Educate the mother about labour events.
- The nurse should send the mother for the investigations of diabetes, hypertension, kidney disease or thyroid disorders.
- The nurse should educate the mother about the importance of treating sexually transmitted diseases before embarking on another pregnancy and also about the personnel hygiene.
