  • Mosquitoes are known from as far back as the Triassic period – 400 million years ago.
  • They are known from North America from the Cretaceous – 100 million years ago. 
  • There are about 3500 species of mosquito in world and 350 species in India.
  • Quick – wings beat 250 – 600 strokes per second.
  • Extracts 50 ltrs of blood in one night in a population of 1 million.
  • Can land on spider’s web without alerting.
  • Mosquitoes fly and estimated 1 to 1.5 miles per hour.
