PRINCIPLE:

Method involved in production of paracetamol tablet is wet granulation. In this process powder is converted to granules using granulating agent. The granules obtained are there after subjected to drying and passed through sieve to achieve granules of uniform size. These granules are then compressed into tablets.

PROCEDURE:

Method used is wet granulations. 12.5 gm of paracetamol is weighed and taken in dry motor along with 0.625 gm of starch powder. Mix well by trituration, to this mix; add sufficient quantities of starch paste until it is converted to coherent mass. This coherent mass is passed through sieve # 12 to get wet granules. Gently press this granule and dry in a hot air oven at temp not exceeding 60°C. The dried granules are regranulated by passing through sieve # 22 over 44, the fines that are passed through #44 is collected and amount equivalent to 15% of wt of granules is retrained on sieve # 60 is then added to dried granules. The required quantity Talc (1%) and Mg.Stearate (1%) are mixed with granules in geometric progression. These granules are then compressed into tablets.

USE: Analgesic and Anti-pyretic.
