INTRODUCTION:

Cefpodoxime Proxetil is an extended spectrum third generation oral cephalosporin. The antibactericidal action of Cefpodoxime is through inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis probably by acylation of membrane bound transpeptidase enzyme, this prevents cross linkage of peptidoglycan chains, which is necessary for bacterial cell wall strength and rigidity. Cefpodoxime Proxetil is found to be active against gram positive and gram-negative bacteria .It is stable in presence of betalactamases.

INDICATIONS:

Rapp is beneficial in all types of

·         Skin & Soft tissue infection

·         Uncomplicated urinary tract infection

·         Acute & uncomplicated Urethral & Cervical Gonorrhoea

·         Chronic Bronchitis

·         Pharyngitis/ Tonsillitis

·         Acute Otitis Media

·         Community Acquired pneumonia

DOSAGE: Oral

·         Treatment of Respiratory tract infection including tonsillitis & pharyngitis:

            Adult: 100-200 mg every 12 hrs for 10 Days.

            Child: 8-10 mg/kg body weight in two divided doses

·         Treatment of Skin Infection:

      Adult: 200-400 mgevery 12 hrs daily for 7-14 Days..

·         Treatment of A cute Community Acquired pneumonia:

Adult: 200 mg. 12 hourly for 14 Days.

·         Treatment of A cute Otitis Media:

Child: 8-10 mg/kg body weight in two divided doses Max Dose: 400 mg daily

·         Treatment of Uncomplicated Gonorrhoea:

      Adult: 200 mg once daily.

·         Treatment of uncomplicated Urinary tract Infection:

      Adult: 100 mg. 12 hourly for 7 Days.
