COMPOSITION:

Each film-coated tablet contains

Gatifloxacin 200 mg or 400 mg

CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY:

Gatifioxacin is the first, in a new chemical class of anti biotic, an advanced generation broad-spectrum 6- Fluoro 8-methoxyquinolone. It has enhanced activity against Gram Positive bacteria such as Staphylococci and Streptococci, compared with Levofloxacin and Ciprofloxacin. It is specially designed to treat respiratory tract and other common infections such as acute exacerbations and chronic bronchitis. Gatifloxacin is well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract after oral administration and can be given without regard to food.

INDICATIONS:

Gatmor tablets are indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible strains of the designated microorganism in the conditions given below: -

ü      Acute bacterial sinusitis.

ü      Acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis.

ü      Community acquired pneumonia.

ü      Uncomplicated urinary tract infections.

ü      Uncomplicated urethral and cervical gonorrhea.

DOSAGE:

The recommended dosage and treatment period for different infections is as follows: -

Acute bacterial sinusitis	400 mg	10 days
Acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis	400 mg	7-10 days
Community acquired pneumonia	400 mg	7-14 days
Uncomplicated urinary tract infections	400 mg or 200 mg	Single dose 3 days
Complicated urinary tract infections	400 mg	7-10 days
Uncomplicated urethral and cervical gonorrhea	400 mg	Single dose
