3)   Job Summary

She / he is teaches in nursing school, responsible to the Vice Principal / Principal of the Nursing school and responsible for planning and implementation of teaching programme and assists in administration of school of nursing.

4)   Academic function

a.   Responsible for planning and implementation of teaching programmes.

b.   Teaching subjects in the curriculum.

c.    Overall supervision of clinical teaching programme of subjects in hospital or community health setting.

d.   Maintains class room equipments, supplies and teaching aids.

e.    Conduct test for (Theory and Practical) and evaluation of student assignment and permanence.

3)   Job Summary

Principal, the administrative head of the General Nursing School will be responsible to the Medical Superintendent or District Surgeon of the Hospital.  One the financial control of school hundred over to the principal, he / she shall be directly responsible to the Directorate of Medical Education  and Directorate of Health and Family Welfare services.  As the head of the school she / he will be responsible for the smooth implementation of the INC syllabus and school administration.

4)   Duties and Responsibilities

Administrative

a)        Advertising and culling for candidates  for nursing programme.

b)       Scrutinising applications, preparing merit list and calling them for interview.

c)        Conducting interview through the setup committee and selecting candidates and informing them.

d)       Planning for orientation programme for new students and staff.

e)        Distributing teaching work load and department to each tutor along with teaching materials connected with that, eg. Nursing arts, anatomy philosophy etc.

f)         Carrying out correspondence with other departments, agencies or individuals in connection with the programme.

g)        Maintaining students records, admission register, results, registers master roll call for staff teachers and students etc.

h)       Counter signing records of each departments, library and hostel after annual verification by the concerned incharge of the department and the warden in case of the hostel.

i)         Seeing to the supply of audio visual aids teaching materials as requested by the concerned department incharge.

j)         Placing indents with the government for stationary, uniform for certain category of class IV servants.

k)       Purchasing lines, furniture, equipments, books and journals as per requirement of the office hostel and nursing departments.

l)         Authorising repairs of vehicles and purchase of oil, petrol and minor parts for replacement.

m)      Sending proposals yearly for new items staff costly equipments etc.

n)       Counter signing cash book after periodical verification of cash.

o)        Seeing that monthly pay bills are sent in time, so also TA bills or any other type of bills.

p)       Assisting the auditors to do their job well, and replying to and complying with audit paras.

q)        Countersigning stamp registers every month.

r)        Seeing that office timings and other rules of service are observed.

s)        Writing annual the confidential report of staff and teachers.

t)         Holding meetings with teachers, staff of office hostels, staff, students and their committees.

Educational

           The principal / principal nursing offices will be responsible for the smooth implementation of the prescribed syllabus, keeping in mind the goal to be achieved she / he will therefore be responsible for.

b.     Arranging for theory and practical work for each group, with the help of tutor / clinical instructors so as to meet the laid down objectives.

d.     Initiating changes in curriculum keeping within the guidelines of the syllabus.

e.     Co-operating with the state counsil / Board to conduct examinations by providing al facilities.

f.       Guiding students in filling examination forms registration fees and seeing that they are submitted to the counsil of time.

g.     Taking classes in his / her subjects.

h.     Preparing and displaying weekly / monthly class schedule, clinical experience of relation plan etc in consultation with tutors.

i.       Maintaining records of examination results.

j.       Communicating to the counsil any relevant information regarding students.

k.     Encouraging teachers to experiment with newer methods of teaching and to find out newer clinical areas which would provide the best possible exposure of students, to that area.

l.       Encourage and supporting co-curricular activities
