SYNTHESIS OF FLAVANONES FROM CHALCONES

 SYNTHESIS OF FLAVANONES FROM CHALCONES

PROCEDURE:

➢ To a solution of chalcone (1 eq) in methanol (10 mL) 5 equiv. of sodium

acetate (NaOAc) was added.

➢ The mixture was heated to reflux for 24 hrs and was monitored by TLC.

The solvent was evaporated, EtOAc (20 mL) was added, and the

mixture was washed with distilled water (3 × 20 mL).

➢ The solution was dried over anhydrous Na2SO4 and filtered.

➢ The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure, and the residue

was purified by column chromatography (CC) using 60-120 mesh silica

as a stationary phase to give respective flavanone.

Here the 12 Flavanone that we have tried to synthesize with the respective

Chalcones but some of them we were not able to separate due to very less

polarity difference.

*This reaction did not proceed further. Hence there is no result for this reaction.
