These measures can help people living with the condition avoid or delay complications.

Over 6.7 million people aged 20-79 died from diabetes-related causes in 2021. 541 million people had impaired glucose tolerance in 2021. In that year, 1.2 million children and adolescents had type 1 diabetes. Direct health expenditures were close to one trillion USD, set to exceed this by 2030. Urgent action is needed to combat this global emergency3.
